"Screen Free" Summer Hours
by Miriam Rossow on June 30th, 2020
The following is a blog about taking some extra time away from screens (phones, computers, televisions, etc.) this summer. Many of us had a lot of extra screen time the last few months due to school, work, meetings, etc. all being online. The blogger suggests some general ways to enjoy some time without screens. Following the blog are some specific ideas gathered by Karla Schettenhelm for the screen-free tips the blogger discusses.
Emotionally Settled? How are you doing?
by Miriam Rossow on April 24th, 2020
Being under quarantine with heavy social restrictions might be physically health-preserving during this time of a serious, highly contagious disease spread, but it is not emotionally healthy. We humans long for human contact. When God created man, He said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
He is Risen. He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!
by Miriam Rossow on April 11th, 2020
ALLELUIA is a joyful expression meaning Praise the Lord! During Lent we omit the word Alleluia from our worship. Lent is a quiet, reflective season in the church year. Easter is a festive celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection when our Alleluias ring again loud and clear! Alleluia! Happy Easter! This lesson will show us why Easter makes us excited to celebrate! Jesus conquered death and rose from the dead, giving us eternal life in Him!
Good Friday- What is so Good about it?
by Miriam Rossow on April 9th, 2020
Why do we call Good Friday good? This is the day that Jesus dies. This is the darkest day in our church year. An innocent man was put on trial, tortured, and murdered. That does not sound good. Use this lesson to help you dig deeper into the reasons Good Friday is good. Jesus love is so great that He took on Himself the punishment none of us could bear simply out of His great love for His creation, for me, for you!
A Different Holy Week
by Miriam Rossow on April 3rd, 2020
This year will be different. This year we find ourselves in a place that we have never experienced. We have never found our selves in a time when for the safety of the people we as a church have been asked to not gather together. It may feel like a violation of our rights (we can discuss that at a different time), but for now the right thing to do is to follow the recommendations and stay home. The right thing to do feels very strange and unknown for us.
The Triumphal Entry
by Miriam Rossow on April 3rd, 2020
This Sunday is Palm Sunday which marks the first day of Holy Week. We remember Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey and the people there waving palm branches and shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
