Christ Our Savior wants to congratulate our nine seniors from the class of 2020.
These nine seniors are from a variety of high schools including Lutheran High Westland, Farmington High School, Livonia Stevenson High School, Canton High School, Thurston High School and being homeschooled. They participated in Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Running, Archery, Rock Climbing, Choirs, Robotics, STEM programs and more.
Many of these students are graduating in the top of their class including co-Valedictorians. We have numerous inductees to the National Honor Society and many students were leaders in their schools from participating in the student government and helping 9th graders feel welcome.
They are looking to continue their journey of education at a variety of Universities and Community Schools focusing on many different areas of learning. Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Music Therapy, Pre-med, Secondary Education, Psychology, working and learning a craft at local cabinetry shop, Mechanical Engineering, and the Marine Reserves.
Christ Our Savior is very proud of these nine seniors and we pray God's blessings on them as they enter this new and exciting phase of their life. We asked them how they were hoping to stay connected to Jesus as they started their new adventure as well as what their favorite or a meaningful bible verse was for them.
As they look to stay connected to Jesus these students know they can't do it alone and so they all hope to find a local congregation to be connected to or they hope to stay connected to COS. They also are looking for groups on their various campuses that can connect them with other students who love and follow Jesus.
Here is a list of their favorite bible verses.
Psalm 147:3-5 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; He gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure."
My favorite verse and confirmation verse is Job 19: 25-27 " For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me! "
"For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ" 2 Peter 1: 5-8
Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." and 2 Corinthians 12:9 "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
1 Corinthians 16:14 "Let all that you do be done in love."
Psalm 37:5-6 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
Psalm 23:4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
We pray these verses continue to be an important part of their lives and that as they journey into the world they are able to shine the light of Jesus as well as be pointed to Him by others.
If you see one of these wonderful students around be sure to congratulate them on their accomplishments and give them a word of encouragement and blessing. What a joy they are to those they touch!
Thank you Seniors and we look forward to hearing from you and how you are seeing Jesus in your life in this next phase!
