Growing Minds for the Future and Hearts for Jesus
Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church and Early Childhood Program believes in the importance of developing, inspiring, and growing young minds and hearts. We provide a program dedicated to partnering with parents to enrich your child's spiritual, educational, physical, and emotional growth. We have carefully constructed an environment in which children can explore the content areas of literacy, math, communities, science, and the arts through structured play, all while reminding them that their savior Jesus Christ loves them, and because of His love, they can love others as well.

Laura Myers
Director and Preschool Teacher
My passion is early childhood education. I find great satisfaction in helping children grow in their developmental skills. I consider myself blessed to be fortunate enough to do this in an environment where I can share my faith in Jesus Christ with these little ones. I love working with families to provide an atmosphere where they can confidently leave their children each day. I am married, have 4 children of my own and have been working with children for 30 years.

Karla Schettenhelm
Preschool Teacher
Teaching children was my desire since I taught my dolls as a young child! I have taught several grades of school, but preschool is my favorite. I love being one of children’s first teachers and helping to build a positive foundation of school and learning. Being able to share Jesus and help instill His love in young children is a great blessing of working in a Lutheran school. In addition to “my” children in my classes, I have been blessed with 2 children of my own. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Lutheran Teacher Diploma from Concordia Ann Arbor and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University.

Jamie Nowicki
Toddler Room Teacher
Hello. My name is Jamie Nowicki. I began working at Christ Our Savior Early Childhood Program as an assistant, after graduating from Churchill High School in 2015. While pursuing my education in early childhood development, I would come back during my winter and summer breaks to provide care for children aged 18 months – 5 years old. While attending the University of Toledo I had the opportunity to be the Lead Teacher of the school aged children for two summers. I graduated in May of 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. At that time, I accepted a full-time position teaching preschool at Primrose Academy in Canton. After a year in Canton, I was honored to have been asked to return to Christ Our Savior as the Lead teacher in the toddler room. I just could not say no! I love the family atmosphere at this center, and I am so blessed to be able to come back.
KC Davenport
Infant Room Teacher
I first worked at Christ Our Savior Early Childhood Program as a classroom aide while studying Early Childhood Education at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. After graduating I taught 2nd grade at a local elementary school for one year. My heart was always with the ministry here at COS, and I returned as the Lead Infant Teacher in the Fall of 2018. I am most passionate about serving young children’s physical and spiritual needs.
