The Promise Project
By Ron Meyer, Men's Ministry Leader
It has been stated that there are 7487 promises from God to us in the Bible. Each of these promises is a treasure that we can hold onto in times of joy and need. We can go to them when we need God’s reassurance of love and control. These promises can be shared with others to provide comfort, sympathy for a loss, encouragement, and a list that goes on and on.
The members of our Men’s Ministry Bible Studies are excited to engage in a project of sharing these promises with each other. Currently, at each class one participant will bring their favorite Bible verse with a promise from God and share it with the class. We will add it to our list during our prayer time. Our hope is to compile the verses shared and make them available to all members of our congregation, and others. The hope is that these will provide spiritual reminders and encouragement for each of us. We have a goal to gather 52 of these promises (one for each week of the year) as a group. 52 promises is our goal, but we certainly can do more than that.
We invite all the men of Christ Our Savior to join with us in searching God’s word for promises that are meaningful for you. We encourage you to pray for guidance in searching the scripture. Perhaps your confirmation verse would be a good place to start, or a current verse that has become an important part of your prayer life and relationship with Jesus. Maybe take the readings from Sunday and read through them again asking for the Holy Spirit to show you a promise in them. Fathers and Sons, Uncles and Nephews, Grandfathers and Grandsons, sit in God’s word together and share your thoughts and the promises of Jesus with each other.
When you have found a promise in the scripture that speaks to you, we would love for you to share them with us so we can share them with others. Fill our the form below with your promise in the message or E-mail the promise to Ron Meyer or put it with your name in Ron’s mailbox at church. Another great way is to join us for class and share it with us as we grow together in God’s Word.
