Sermon: We are Prepared!

From the Gospel reading for today we see that Anna and Simeon were prepared! Prepared by the Holy Spirit to believe in the Christ child as the promised Messiah–heaven was their home! So too are we–prepared for eternal life and for this earthly life–to give testimony to our neighbors of the Savior born in Bethlehem, He is the Christ our Lord and Savior!
And then we come to the Christmas account, recorded in both Matthew and Luke's Gospel. Jesus arrives, fulfilling the prophecies, surprising everyone. The words of Scripture continue to share the deep meaning of his arrival, and in 1 John 4 and Titus 2 we are reminded again that Jesus came to bring us love and salvation. Merry Christmas!
