Sermon: Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

We've all heard the phrase: "keep your eyes on the prize." The words of the epistle lesson in Philippians 3, where Paul talks about pressing on toward perfection, bring this phrase to mind. Paul encourages us to change the focus, however. The phrase "keep your eyes on the prize" encourages us to focus on ourselves, our efforts, our work, our failings, and our accomplishments. Paul instead puts the focus on Christ. He has finished the work already.
